It is with great sadness that I inform you of the Line of Duty Death of Brother David J. Meyer of Chicago, Local 2. Brother Meyer passed away Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025, from injuries sustained while battling a structure fire. Brother Meyer was 54 years old. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a son.

By orders of AFFI President Chuck Sullivan, the AFFI Honor Guard is activated.

Brother Meyer’s services are as follows:

Visitation: Monday, April 28th, 2025, from 1500-2000hrs at Malec and Sons Funeral Home- 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646.

Uniformed Personnel Walk-Thru: Monday, April 28th, 2025, at 1900hrs at Malec and Sons Funeral Home- 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 1830hrs.

Service: Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at 1000hrs, at St. John Brebeuf Parish- 8305 N. Harlem Ave., Niles, IL 60714. Honor Guard members should arrive no later than 0930hrs.

Interment: Private.
