Bargaining is the single most important function of a Local when it comes to securing Wages, Benefits and Conditions of Employment. The AFFI provides Locals with numerous resources to accomplish this task.

Our District Vice Presidents help to organize locals both internally and externally and provide assistance if requested during negotiations, mediation, arbitration and disciplinary hearings.

The AFFI maintains a comprehensive database that includes demographics to illustrate how your municipality or fire district compare in regards to revenue and expenses, fire department operations and census data.  The database also includes how municipalities and fire districts compare on overall compensation, including wages and hours and insurance benefits.  We also track precedent-setting arbitration awards.
