Finding a clinician who understands you and the fire service can be extremely stressful. The good news is the AFFI has done a lot of the work on your behalf. Your AFFI Resiliency Committee has interviewed the following clinicians in an attempt to help narrow the search for our members. Each recommended clinician has, at a minimum, been thoroughly interviewed by a sub-panel and further examined by both the committee and the Executive Board.
While each of these clinicians were found to be culturally competent, that doesn’t mean your first choice will be an automatic fit. If your first clinician isn’t for you, don’t be discouraged. 70% of all relationships with clinicians are based on likability. Sometimes you may need to visit more than one clinician before you find the one that works for you.
Remember that it’s ok to not be ok. But we want to make sure you have the tools to get well. Seeking help is never easy but it matters because you matter.
If you have further questions or require additional assistance, please contact the Resiliency Committee or your preferred Local or AFFI representative.
