“Meeting You Where You Are To Get You Where You Deserve To Be”
The AFFI Resiliency Committee was established by resolution at the 43rd Biennial Convention with a focus on improving, promoting, and researching the emotional wellness, behavioral health, substance abuse, suicide prevention, and overall resiliency to its members.
Primary prevention strategies include focusing on sleep, nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness practices like meditation, journaling, yoga, and breathing exercises. These measures aim to intervene before any disease processes can take hold.
Secondary prevention involves assessment procedures to detect signs of mental or physical health issues. This can include lab tests, sleep studies, mental health assessments, and consultations with healthcare professionals.
Tertiary interventions are designed to mitigate or reverse the effects of existing health problems. Examples include medication, sleep aids, and therapeutic approaches like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for mental health issues.
